The Seaplane Pilots Association is pleased to announce the next SPAA Pilot Skills Camp at beautiful Port Macquarie, commencing Friday 30 October 2026.

These weekends are always great fun, combining a unique learning program with fantastic presentations, flying activities and plenty of social interaction with fellow seaplane enthusiasts.

We strongly recommend booking your accommodation now, as the Edgewater Holiday Park books out quickly. The good news is that no payment is required until one week before arrival.

Your event registration and payment will also not be due until one week before the event and will be fully refundable should you be unable to attend for a valid reason.

More details, including the program and registration information, will be released shortly.

Friday October 30^th

Participants arrive midday
Assistance with refuelling parking tie downs as required
Transport to accommodation if needed.

Saturday 31^th

7 – 8:30 Breakfast at RIVERMARK café ( at own cost )
8:30 – 9 Transportation to Aeroclub
9 am Welcome
9:15- 10:45 Presentations
10:45 – 11 Morning tea
11 - 12:30 Presentations
12:30 - 1 Lunch
1 - 3:00 Presentations
3.15 – 5:30 Flying activities
5:30 - 6:30 transfer from airfield to accommodation
6:30 – 7 pm transferred to restaurant
7 – 9 SPAA Dinner wine and beer and soft drinks ( limited )
9 – 9:30 transportation as required to accommodation.

Sunday November 1^st

9 – 10 Transfer to airport
Flying activities
Departures with support conclude midday

NOTES

Friday BBQ will be quality meats, salads, deserts and BYO Drinks
Film night will be a compilation of videos from members and other aviation themes from You tube or other social media Spliced together
Saterday Set course dinner , venue to be decided but within 3 km to enable transportation.
2-3 members to provide driving services on volunteer basis

Lake Boga Fly In and Christmas Function

The SPAA Fly in and Christmas function will be held at Lake Boga 4th to 6th December 2026. Accommodation at Lake Boga can be booked online at the Happy Wanderer Motel . Transport by Bus and Pontoon boat will be available all weekend to and from accommodation and to Aircraft Parked at the Ski Club Ramp located on the west side of the Lake next to the Catalina Museum. Recommend that arriving aircraft to Lake Boga. Broadcast intentions on the YSWH CTAF 119.1 Avgas available at YSWH Airport BP carnet card. Unleaded fuel available at the Lake Boga servo.

Friday 4th December.

Arrivals will be transferred to accommodation.

6pm Bus departs Happy Wanderer for the Swan Hill Club for evening meal.

8.30 Bus departs Swan Hill Club for the Laser Light Water Show featuring the Lake Boga Catalina Flying Base. Return to accommodation following show.

Saturday 5th December 8.30 bus departs for Breakfast venue to be advised.

10.15 Boarding on the Paddle Steamer Pyap for Murray River Cruise.

Return to Lake Boga free time for Flying.

6pm Pick up by boat transferred to Christmas function to be held at 337-339 Murray Valley Highway Lake Boga. BYO Drinks and function will be catered for pay on the night. .Entertainment provided.

10.30pm -11pm Boat departs for Accommodation

Sunday 6th December 9am bus departs for Catalina Boos café for breakfast and ski club ramp. Free time to fly and return home end of function.

SPAA conference and AGM Rathmines 2027 (19 Feb 2027)

Save these dates for SPAA Biennial conference Friday, 19 Feb through to Sunday, 21 Feb 2027 at Rathmines.

We're back at the traditional home of seaplane pilots.

The conference will run from arrival and welcome drinks on the ramp, Friday Feb 19th through to Sunday 21st. Following the conference the AGM will be held after lunch on Sunday afternoon.

As with the previous conference, there will be an early bird registration, where you can register now and pay later. if you could register as soon as possible, it really does help out with planning.

Why Rathmines? The Rathmines Air Base is the spiritual home of SPAA with plenty of hard stand space, wide ramps and beautiful waters to play in between events.

The Association has reserved accommodation at the Catalina Lakefront Retreat and Conference Centre located adjacent to the ramp. Most of the rooms will have shared bathroom facilities and queen or king-single beds.

If you want five star accomodation there are options available in the area.

Avalon 2027 - Australian International Airshow (25 Feb 2027)

Dear Members,

We’re excited to announce that SPAA will be attending the Avalon Airshow from 25th Feb 2027! This is a fantastic opportunity to support our Association and share our passion for the seaplane lifestyle with the broader aviation community.

We’ve been invited to display members’ seaplanes and will be setting up a pavilion at the event to engage with visitors and answer the usual questions about the joys of seaplane flying.

If you’d like to display your aircraft or lend a hand at the marquee, please register your interest as soon as possible. This will help us arrange free admission tickets and nearby accommodation for you. Tickets and display spots for aircraft are limited, so we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment.

We’ll keep you updated on SPAA-related activities at the event (and possibly an after-party!). It would be wonderful to have as many members as possible showcasing their seaplanes at this spectacular three-day aviation event.
