Rathmines was the largest WW2 flying boat base in the Southern Hemisphere.

SPAA will again support the festival by encouraging the Seaplane Pilot community to attend with a variety of private and commercial aircraft. The festival encourages the construction of a museum with Catalina aircraft in a hangar at the former Rathmines RAAF base.
