SPAA At Work
Pilots who join the world of water flying inherit considerable benefits and privileges that many pioneers before them have worked hard to establish.
Many of the rules and proceedures, have been achieved through the concerted efforts of a dedicated few over the years, who have come together through the Seaplane Pilots Association. Much work and committment has gone into education programs and building close working relationships with those Authorities who regulate the industry.
Today, through that hard work, seaplanes are accepted as safe, environmentally acceptable and necessary to the National development of Australia. In joining the SPAA and as part of enjoying the privileges of flying seaplanes, we welcome your membership and support. To date the SPAA has achieved much which includes:
1. A National representative boby that is respected by
CASA and Waterways regulators.
2. Provides support to Commercial Seaplane
Operators who encounter operational difficulties with
regulators.
3. Worked with CASA Review Committee and had
GOFR rules changed to allow seaplanes to make
turns below 500ft after takeoff.
4. Contributed to the creation of R405 and Victor 1 in
Sydney.
5. Membership of State Maritime Recreational
Advisory committees
